Coming Soon: The Delphic Maxims

The Delphic Maxims were a set of 147 pithy sayings that more or less encapsulated ancient Greek wisdom. The sayings were carved into the pillars surrounding the Oracle of Delphi. The Oracle was an ancient source of prophecy and counsel. Likewise, the Maxims come down to us form the ancients as advice that can still benefit our lives today. Soon on Modern Kalokagathia I’m going to begin posting a series of dialogues between myself and Drew Lackovic, a story writer and friend from graduate school. We are going to discuss the Delphic Maxims and what we can glean from them in our modern context. So look forward to that and, in the meantime, I hope you all will continue your pursuit of goodness and beauty.
